Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez South Miami Murder-Suicide : Man Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide With Husband Peter Jesus Cabanzon

A deadly incident in a quiet South Miami neighborhood has left friends, family, and neighbors of Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez in shock. On Sunday afternoon, officers responded to reports of gunfire at a home located at 5711 Twin Lake Drive. Upon arrival just before 2:30 p.m., law enforcement discovered two men inside the residence, both victims of gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to revive them, both were declared dead at the scene.

The second individual was later identified as Peter Jesus Cabanzon, Quintero Sanchez’s 63-year-old husband. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has stated that the shooting appears to be a domestic-related murder-suicide. Investigators believe that Cabanzon shot his husband before taking his own life.

Neighbors report that the couple, married in February 2025, were a familiar and friendly sight in the community. Cabanzon was remembered by one neighbor as an “excellent person” who was social and easy to connect with. The event is particularly jarring in a neighborhood known for its quiet and close-knit atmosphere.

Following the initial response, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives took over the investigation, gathering evidence from the scene and speaking with witnesses to determine what led to the tragedy. While the circumstances surrounding the dispute remain unclear, the investigation is ongoing.

As the community processes this tragic event, Luis Eduardo Quintero Sanchez and Peter Jesus Cabanzon are remembered by those who knew them. The family will release details regarding the obituary, memorial services, funeral, and visitation in the coming days.
