Woodbridge, Virginia — The community is mourning the heartbreaking death of Amanda Chaloupka, 40, and her husband, Patrick Michael Chaloupka, 42, who were killed in a devastating crash on the evening of March 8. According to police, the crash occurred shortly after 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Cardinal Drive and Whips Run Drive. Authorities say the couple was traveling in their 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe when their vehicle was struck head-on by a 2015 Hyundai Genesis that was driving the wrong way along Cardinal Drive. The powerful impact pushed the Chaloupkas’ SUV into a 2025 GMC Hummer traveling in the same direction, and debris from the crash also struck a parked 2024 Honda Accord in a nearby driveway.
Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported Amanda and Patrick to a nearby hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, both were pronounced dead from their injuries. The 27-year-old driver of the Genesis, also from Woodbridge, was critically injured and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old driver of the Hummer was evaluated at the scene and was not injured.
