Louis Anthony Boone Dumfries Shooting Death Potomac Shores, VA

What began as an ordinary evening of basketball in Potomac Shores, Virginia, ended in tragedy Monday when gunfire erupted at a neighborhood court, claiming the life of 18-year-old Louis Anthony Boone of Dumfries.

Authorities say the shooting occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. near the 1800 block of Potomac Shores Parkway. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire at a basketball court where several young men had gathered to play.

According to investigators, a confrontation broke out when another group approached those already on the court. During the dispute, shots were fired, sending players and bystanders running for safety.

Police found Boone suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital but later died from his injuries. Four additional males were wounded during the incident, including teenagers and young adults between 16 and 20 years old. Authorities report that the injured victims are expected to recover.

The other victims include a 20-year-old man from Woodbridge, a 16-year-old from Dumfries, and two 17-year-old boys from Woodbridge. Their identities have not been publicly released.
