Oscar Piastri Crash Australia
Oscar Piastri Crash Today- Oscar Piastri has revealed that an unexpected power surge was a significant factor behind his crash during the reconnaissance lap at the Australian Grand Prix. Addressing the media, Piastri explained:
“We had a couple of things going on. The first part I want to emphasize is that a lot of it was on me—cold tyres. I’ve used that exit kerb every lap of the weekend, but I didn’t need to. At the same time, I had around 100 kilowatts of extra power that I wasn’t expecting, which is not insignificant. What’s difficult to accept is that everything was working normally; it’s just the nature of how the engines interact with the rules.
It would almost be easier if it were just about cold tyres and me being too optimistic, but when you factor in something like that, it makes it much harder to accept.”
Reflecting on the emotions surrounding his failure to start the race, Piastri expressed his disappointment:
“I was obviously disappointed. A scenario like that just shouldn’t happen. It’s tough because it’s not the way I wanted to start the year. There’s just shock and surprise—before I even had a chance to react, I was already backwards. It all happened so quickly. Crashing out on the way to the race shouldn’t happen.”
Looking ahead to the next race in China, Piastri is focused on learning from the experience:
“I think I just need to learn as much as I can, even just by watching the race. Last year, while the result wasn’t what I wanted, there were positives to take away from the weekend. This year, the disappointment is even greater, but up until today, we’ve done a lot of things well. We’ve identified areas where we need to improve and do a better job moving forward.”
