Brooks Lawless
February 17, 2008 — August 1, 2025
The family and friends of Landon “Brooks” Lawless are mourning his heartbreaking death on August 1, 2025, at the age of 17.
Brooks was born on February 17, 2008, in Macon, Georgia, and was a resident of Lizella, Georgia. During his life, he also spent several years in Aiken, South Carolina, where he formed many close friendships and maintained strong family connections.
Known for his warm personality and joyful spirit, Brooks had a natural ability to make others laugh and feel welcome. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a deep love for hunting, fishing, children, rodeo, and the country lifestyle. His vibrant presence and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Brooks was preceded in death by his mother, Alecia Lawless-Derochie. He is survived by his younger brother, Logan Lawless; his maternal grandparents, Kim Drinkwine (Matt) and John Lawless (Debbie); his aunts, Amber Lawless, Shannon Elliott (Russell), Kaitlyn Lawless, and Bailey Turner (Shane); and his uncle, Dalton Lawless. He also leaves behind his Elliott Farms family, Russ Elliott (Debra) and Mandy Price (Josh), along with numerous great-aunts, great-uncles, extended family members, and special cousins who were like brothers and sisters to him, as well as a wide circle of friends who will deeply miss him.
A celebration of Brooks’ life will be held on August 15, with fellowship beginning at 3:30 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. at the Conference Center of the James Madison Inn, 260 W. Washington Street, Madison, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brooks’ memory to Wayne Dutton Livestock to help establish a special year-end award for young rodeo participants—an activity Brooks loved dearly. Brooks will also be honored during the next rodeo event on August 16 at 5:00 p.m. at the arena located at 1610 Doster Road, Madison, Georgia. Contributions may be mailed to that address or sent via Venmo to Wayne-dutton-3, with a note indicating the donation is made in memory of Brooks.
